BYD launches first pure electric bus in Chile

Chinese automaker BYD has launched the first pure electric public bus in northern Chile‘s Antofagasta Region.  The bus features air conditioning, wi-fi and charging points for mobile devices, and at just 70 pesos  ($ 0.10) per kilometer, it's 70% cheaper to run compared to a conventional diesel bus. BYD's application for an electric vehicle charger just published, potentially adding another patent to its large portfolio, which is currently at 527 US patents.
