1 . A neuromodulation system, comprising at least one elongate device configured for implantation inside the body, the at least one elongate device comprising: (1) (2)

a first and a second electrode; and

a diode electrically connected between the first and second electrodes, and wherein the diode is directly connected to the first electrodes.

2 . The neuromodulation system of claim 1 , further comprising at least one inductor, wherein the at least one inductor is directly connected to the diode. (1) (0)

3 . The neuromodulation system of claim 2 , wherein the at least one inductor is directly connected to the second electrode. (1) (0)

4 . The system of claim 3 , further comprising magnetic field generator configured to be placed outside the body and generating a time varying magnetic field. (4) (0)

18 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the magnetic field generator comprises a coil, the coil comprising one or more coil windings of wire with an inner diameter of 1 to 20 centimeters. (2) (0)

19 . The system of claim 18 , further wherein the coil is connected in parallel with a capacitor such that a stimulation signal is a portion in time of a resonance between the coil and the capacitor. (1) (0)

26 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the one or more coil windings are in a planar or multi-planar configuration. (0)

23 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the coil of the magnetic field generator and the inductor of the elongate device comprises a ferromagnetic material with magnetic permeability between 1.1 and 10,000 configured to contain the fringe fields. (0)

33 . The system of claim 4 , wherein the magnetic field generator comprises one or more of a microprocessor, disposable battery, rechargeable battery, user interface, physician interface, nurse interface, data storage, and network connection. (1) (0)

39 . The system or method of claim 4 , wherein the magnetic field generator comprises at least one of a plethysmography sensor, a blood oxygen level sensor, or a microphone. (0)

43 . A neuromodulation system, comprising: (2) (2)

at least one elongate device comprising first and second electrodes and a diode with a length of less than ten millimeters and a transverse dimension to the length of less than three millimeters, configured for injection adjacent or against a nerve, axon, or neuron; and

a magnetic field generator configured to generate an induced and one of a concentrated electric field and a concentrated magnetic field at the at least one elongate device.

44 . The neuromodulation system of claim 43 , wherein the at least one elongate device further comprises an inductor. (1) (0)

46 . The neuromodulation system of claim 43 , wherein the at least one elongate device is pre-loaded in an injection device and in a sealed sterile package. (0)

51 . A method of treating a patient, comprising: (9) (5)

inserting at least one elongate device against or adjacent to a nerve, axon, neuron or neural tissue of patient, wherein the device has a length of less than ten millimeters and a transverse dimension to the length of less than three millimeters;

positioning at least one a magnetic field generator at a location spaced away from the at least one elongate device;

using the at least one magnetic field generator to provide a) an induced and concentrated electric field, or b) a threaded and concentrated magnetic field, to at least one elongate device; and

generating a stimulation signal at the least one elongate device using the induced and concentrated electric field or the threaded and concentrated magnetic field;

wherein the at least one elongate device comprises: a first and a second electrode; and a diode electrically connected between the first and second electrodes, and wherein the diode is directly connected to the first electrodes.

52 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the one or more elongate device each further comprise at least one inductor, wherein the at least one inductor is directly connected to the diode and the magnetic field induces electrical current in the inductor. (1) (0)

54 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the at least one magnetic field generator is an ambulatory magnetic field generator comprising a housing with a plurality of magnetic coils, a driver circuit, and a rechargeable or disposable battery. (1) (0)

56 . The method claim 51 , wherein the location spaced away from the at least one elongate conductor is against a skin surface. (0)

57 . The method of claim 51 , further comprising maintaining the location of the magnetic field conductor using straps, elastic bands, Velcro, buckles, adhesives, pins, or pockets. (0)

64 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the at least one elongate device is a plurality of elongate devices. (0)

65 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the at least one elongate device comprises two elongate devices that are adjacent to each bilateral hypoglossal nerve of the patient diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea. (0)

The method of claim 51 , wherein the at least one elongate device comprises multiple elongate devices, and the at least one magnetic field generator comprises multiple field generators, wherein a first subset of the multiple elongate devices are aligned with a first subset of magnetic field generators, and a second subset of the multiple elongate devices are aligned with a second subset of magnetic field generators. 67 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the location is the brain. (0)

68 . The method of claim 51 , wherein the location is at the spinal cord. (0)

69 . A method of treating a condition, comprising: (1) (3)

identifying a patient with at least one elongate device implanted at a treatment site, the at least one elongate device comprising first and second electrodes and a diode with a length of less than ten millimeters and a transverse dimension to the length of less than three millimeters, configured for injection adjacent or against a nerve, axon, or neuron; and

placing a coil of an external magnetic field generator against a surface of the treatment site of the patient; and

applying a magnetic field to the one or more implanted elongate devices to generate therapeutic neural stimulation.

70 . The method of claim 69 , further comprising modulating the magnetic field generated to modulate, increase or decrease action potential activity at the treatment site. (2) (0)

71 . The method of claim 70 , wherein the action potential activity are located in neurons in the brain, sensory system, or neuromuscular system. (2) (0)

76 . The method of claim 70 , further comprising generating the magnetic field using less than 100 peak amps and 100 volts of peak voltage. (0)
