1. A computer-implemented method for certifying a distributed electronic ledger, the computer-implemented method comprising: (3) (8)

under control of one or more computing devices executing specific computer-executable instructions,

storing, in at least two data storage devices, a distributed electronic ledger for an item, the distributed electronic ledger including at least one distributed electronic ledger record identifying a transaction for the item;

receiving, from a certification device, a certification rule identifying: (i) at least one distributed electronic ledger record type to certify a property of the item, and

(ii) certification display information to present after certification of the property;

receiving, from a user device, a search request including a criterion identifying the property of the item;

receiving, from a catalog system, item information based at least in part on the criterion, the item information including an identifier for the item;

retrieving, from one of the at least two data storage devices, the distributed electronic ledger for the item based at least in part on the identifier for the item;

determining that the distributed electronic ledger for the item includes the at least one distributed electronic ledger record type identified by the certification rule; and

causing display of the certification display information with the item information on the user device.

The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the certification rule further identifies at least one distributed electronic ledger record value to certify the property of the item, and wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises determining the distributed electronic ledger for the item includes at least one distributed electronic ledger record that includes the at least one distributed electronic ledger record value. 3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: (0) (4)

receiving, from a first entity, transaction information indicating that the item is formed from a first input item and a second input item, wherein the first input item is associated with a first distributed electronic ledger and the second input item is associated with a second distributed electronic ledger;

determining that first permissions of the first distributed electronic ledger allow the first entity to edit the first distributed electronic ledger;

determining that second permissions of the second distributed electronic ledger allow the first entity to edit the second distributed electronic ledger; and

generating the distributed electronic ledger for the item based at least in part on the first distributed ledger and the second distributed ledger.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising: (0) (4)

receiving an indexing rule for the distributed electronic ledger, the indexing rule identifying at least one of:

i) a distributed electronic ledger record type, or

ii) a distributed electronic ledger record value; and

generating an index of the distributed electronic ledger stored by the at least two data storage devices, wherein generating the index is based at least in part on the indexing rule, the index identifying storage locations for the distributed electronic ledger including the distributed electronic ledger record type or the distributed electronic ledger record value identified by the indexing rule.

5. A computer-implemented method for certifying a distributed electronic ledger, the computer-implemented method comprising: (7) (1)

under control of one or more computing devices executing specific computer-executable instructions, storing, in at least two data storage devices, a distributed electronic ledger for an item, the distributed electronic ledger including at least one distributed electronic ledger record identifying a transaction for the item;

receiving, from a certification device, a certification rule identifying at least one distributed electronic ledger record type to certify a property of the item;

determining that the distributed electronic ledger for the item includes the at least one distributed electronic ledger record type identified by the certification rule; and

adding a distributed electronic ledger record for the item to the distributed electronic ledger, the distributed electronic ledger record including certification information for the item.

The computer-implemented method of claim 5, wherein the certification rule further identifies at least one distributed electronic ledger record value to certify the property of the item, and wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises determining the distributed electronic ledger for the item includes at least one distributed electronic ledger record that includes the at least one distributed electronic ledger record value. 7. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, further comprising: (0) (4)

determining that first permissions of the first distributed electronic ledger allow the first entity to edit the first distributed electronic ledger;

determining that second permissions of the second distributed electronic ledger allow the first entity to edit the second distributed electronic ledger; and

generating the distributed electronic ledger for the item based at least in part on the first distributed ledger and the second distributed ledger.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, further comprising determining that the distributed electronic ledger does not include a ledger record revoking the at least one distributed electronic ledger record type identified by the certification rule. (0)

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, further comprising: (0) (4)

receiving an indexing rule for the distributed electronic ledger, the indexing rule identifying at least one of:

i) a distributed electronic ledger record type, or

ii) a distributed electronic ledger record value; and

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, wherein the certification rule comprises a certification information template including a content slot identifying an item value from the distributed electronic ledger, and wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises: (0) (2)

11. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, further comprising: (1) (3)

receiving, from a user device, a representation of an item identifier included on the item or packaging thereof and a user identifier for a user;

determining that the distributed electronic ledger includes a record indicating transfer of the item associated with the item identifier from a first entity to the user associated with the user identifier; and

adding a transfer record for the item to the distributed electronic ledger indicating receipt of the item by the user associated with the user identifier.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 11, the computer-implemented method further comprising: (0) (4)

receiving, from the first entity, a notification message, the notification message identifying the item;

retrieving the user identifier from the distributed electronic ledger based at least in part on the item identifier of the item;

retrieving, from a user data store, contact information for the user, the contact information including an identifier for the user device; and

transmitting the notification message to the user device based at least in part on the identifier for the user device.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 5, the computer-implemented method further comprising: (0) (2)

a computer-readable memory storing executable instructions; and

one or more computer processors in communication with the computer-readable memory, wherein the one or more computer processors are configured to execute the executable instructions to at least: store, in at least two data storage devices, a distributed electronic ledger for an item, the distributed electronic ledger including at least one distributed electronic ledger record identifying a transaction for the item;

receive, from a certification device, a certification rule identifying at least one distributed electronic ledger record type to certify a property of the item;

determine that the distributed electronic ledger for the item includes the at least one distributed electronic ledger record type identified by the certification rule; and

add a distributed electronic ledger record for the item to the distributed electronic ledger, the distributed electronic ledger record including certification information for the item.

The system of claim 14, wherein the certification rule further identifies at least one distributed electronic ledger record value to certify the property of the item, and wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to execute the executable instructions to at least determine the distributed electronic ledger for the item includes at least one distributed electronic ledger record that includes the at least one distributed electronic ledger record value. 16. The system of claim 14, wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to execute the executable instructions to at least: (0) (4)

receive, from a first entity, transaction information indicating that the item is formed from a first input item and a second input item, wherein the first input item is associated with a first distributed electronic ledger and the second input item is associated with a second distributed electronic ledger;

determine that first permissions of the first distributed electronic ledger allow the first entity to edit the first distributed electronic ledger;

determine that second permissions of the second distributed electronic ledger allow the first entity to edit the second distributed electronic ledger; and

generate the distributed electronic ledger for the item based at least in part on the first distributed ledger and the second distributed ledger.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to execute the executable instructions to at least: (0) (2)

18. The system of claim 14, wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to execute the executable instructions to at least: (0) (4)

receive an indexing rule for the distributed electronic ledger, the indexing rule identifying at least one of:

i) a distributed electronic ledger record type, or

ii) a distributed electronic ledger record value; and

generate an index of the distributed electronic ledger stored by the at least two data storage devices, wherein generating the index is based at least in part on the indexing rule, the index identifying storage locations for the distributed electronic ledger including the distributed electronic ledger record type or the distributed electronic ledger record value identified by the indexing rule.

The system of claim 14, wherein the certification rule comprises a certification information template including a content slot identifying an item value from the distributed electronic ledger, and wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to execute the executable instructions to at least: (1) (2)

identify a distributed electronic ledger record for the item including the item value; and

generate the certification information based at least in part on the certification information template and the distributed electronic ledger record for the item.

20. The computer-implemented method of claim 19, wherein the one or more computer processors are further configured to execute the executable instructions to at least: (0) (4)

receive, from the first entity, a notification message, the notification message identifying the item;

retrieve a user identifier from the distributed electronic ledger based at least in part on the item identifier of the item, the user identifier indicating a user associated with the item;

retrieve, from a user data store, contact information for the user, the contact information including an identifier for the user device; and

transmit the notification message to the user device based at least in part on the identifier for the user device.
