1. An apparatus comprising: (7) (4)

a set of virtual reality goggles affixable to a patient, the set of virtual reality goggles comprising two central lenses employed to be positioned over the patient's eyes;

securing means configured to secure a computing device to the set of virtual reality goggles; and

means for determining a distance between the patient's eyes and the computing device;

wherein the set of virtual reality goggles is employable to test visual attributes of the patient.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a controller configured to receive communications from and transmit communications to at least one of the set of virtual reality goggles and the computing device. (1) (0)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for determining the distance between the patient's eyes and the computing device comprise an indentation formed in the set of virtual reality goggles with a visual reference item positioned within the indentation and positioned in front of a camera provided with the computing device when the computing device is secured to the set of virtual reality goggles. (0)

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the means for determining the distance between the patient's eyes and the computing device comprise at least one of the computing device and the set of virtual reality goggles configured to determine, based on the size of the visual reference item assessed using the camera of the computing device, distance between a display of the computing device and at least one eye of the patient. (0)

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the test of visual attributes of the patient include testing a first eye of the user without concurrently testing a second eye of the patient. (0)

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the set of virtual reality goggles are employed to perform at least one of: (0) (6)

visual acuity testing;

visual fields testing;

contrast sensitivity testing;

refractor testing of vision correction needed by the patient;

assessment of existence of concussion; and

assessment of existence of non-concussion brain issues.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a separation element positioned between the two central lenses and configured to eliminate visual crosstalk. (0)

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the apparatus is configured to turn on and off based on push notifications received from a remote device. (0)

10. An apparatus comprising: (4) (3)

virtual reality goggles affixable to a patient, the virtual reality goggles comprising two central lenses employed to be positioned over the patient's eyes; and

means for determining distance between the patient's eyes and the two central lenses;

wherein the virtual reality goggles are employable to test visual characteristics of the patient.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, further comprising means for securing a computing device to the virtual reality goggles. (1) (0)

The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the computing device comprises a camera, the apparatus further comprising a visual reference item positioned within an indentation formed in the visual reality goggles and positioned in front of the camera when the computing device is secured with the virtual reality goggles. (0)

14. The apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a separation element positioned between the two central lenses and configured to eliminate visual crosstalk. (0)

15. The apparatus of claim 10, further comprising a controller configured to receive communications from and transmit communications to at least one of the virtual reality goggles and the computing device. (1) (0)

17. A system for testing ocular characteristics of a patient, comprising: (6) (4)

a controller configured to coordinate and perform visual testing;

virtual reality goggles connectable to the controller and affixable to the patient, the virtual reality goggles comprising two central lenses employed to be positioned over the patient's eyes; and

means for assessing position of the virtual reality goggles relative to the patient's eyes, including distance from the patient's eyes to a display element provided with the virtual reality goggles;

wherein the controller provides signals to and receives signals from the virtual reality goggles to test and assess visual attributes of the patient.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the virtual reality goggles further comprise a separation element positioned between the two central lenses and configured to eliminate visual crosstalk. (0)

19. The system of claim 17, wherein the controller is connected to a webserver configured to receive patient test results. (0)

The system of claim 17, wherein the virtual reality goggles are provided with a computing device including a camera, and wherein at least one of the computing device and the virtual reality goggles are configured to determine, based on the size of a visual reference item assessed using the camera of the computing device, distance between a display of the computing device and at least one eye of the patient. (0)

The system of claim 17, wherein the system is configured to selectively alter an IP address of the virtual reality goggles moving from communication with one network access point to communication with another access point, and is further configured to use push notifications to retrieve a new IP address of the virtual reality goggles. (0)

22. The system of claim 17, wherein the VR goggles are configured to provide a tactile function applicable to attempt to reinstate attention of the patient. (0)

23. The system of claim 17, further comprising an audio sensor, wherein the system is configured to receive audio commands via the audio sensor and act based on audio commands received. (0)
