IBM is one of the leaders of the smart traffic control sector and it is likely its presence will continue to grow considering its stated intention to incorporate more cloud based technology into traffic monitoring in 2014. IBM is diversified within the space, but the largest amount of activity has been seen in the traffic management category. Efforts to advance AI computing over 5G through a partnership with Verizon will likely contribute to future efforts as intelligent decision making with low latency being a necessary step to smart traffic control.
