American Express wants to enable automated remote payments between EV's and charging stations.
The system would initiate a communications handshake from a charging station to a remote payment system. This handshake would be in response to the charging station detecting a vehicle in proximity to the charging station. The remote payment system then transmits vehicle identifying data, using a trusted platform module (TPM), to the charging station. Once successfully identified, the remote payment approves the transaction and begins charging the vehicle.
No longer will you need to make that treacherous walk from you car to the charging station. It's time to let the cars do the hard work.
