North Carolina-based sleep tech company ChiliSleep recently announced the latest model of its chiliPAD cooling mattress pad, which uses water to cool the bed and the body to a temperature that studies have shown will improve quality of sleep. ChiliSleep's recent patents for temperature-conditioning devices have claimed various materials and mesh-like structures, and the newest upgrade to the chiliPAD uses a mesh technology for improved thermal efficiency based on consumer feedback. 

Although the consumer sleep technology sector is dominated by large companies well-known for their wearables and other consumer electronics, ChiliSleep holds its own in the devices subcategory with ten documents focusing on temperature control. This is a sizable portfolio for that area, as other companies such as Philips and Sleep Number tend to focus on non-temperature-based devices.
