Integrated Safety Support, an Australian company that offers solutions for employee fatigue management, has released a mobile app that uses patented technology originally developed by the U.S. Army. The PeakAlert app tests user alertness and combines this information with data on sleep and caffeine consumption to optimize the user's sleep schedule and predict the best times for them to have caffeine throughout the day.
The original technology was developed by the U.S. Army and filed in a patent application in 2016. The patent describes a weighted Bayesian alertness model that learns about the user's patterns and updates suggestions accordingly. The technology was licensed to Integrated Safety Support in 2019.
