Flavorseal Wants to Evenly Preserve Your Food

Biodegradable Packaging Patent Forecast®

January 9, 2020

A newly issued patent for Flavorseal LLC (Flavorseal) relates to a new way to preserve packaged food items.

Traditionally, items that are packaged and stored for later use are treated with an additive material to enhance or preserve the item for eventual sale or use. In many cases, the additive material is deposited in the packaging container and, over time, coats or treats the food stored within. However, the deposited material tends to pool at the bottom of the container, resulting in a disproportionately large portion of the material being applied to the items at the bottom of the container and a relatively small portion being applied to food at the top of the container.

Flavorseal is solving this issue using a particulate dispenser inserted into the container, attached to it via an adhesive coating. The dispenser discharges a particulate, which embeds in the adhesive coating. The coating is then dried in order to retain the particulate on the interior surface of the container, enabling an even distribution of an additive material.
