Paptic, a Finnish startup we previously reported on, was recently issued its first patent in the United States. Paptic has secured over $3 million in funding and also filed multiple patent applications in Europe. The company produces Paptic® Tringa, a material which it claims is biodegradable and made from 85-90% renewable sources (with a goal to increase this percentage). Tringa is operable to be used on existing paper converting lines, is stretchy, and is soft to the touch.
