In part to address the ongoing decline in bee population worldwide, Oracle has partnered with the World Bee Project to introduce blockchain technology to the honey supply chain. They will develop a "BeeMark" label that guarantees production from ecological and sustainable sources. Parties involved will be able to upload information to the Oracle Blockchain Platform, enabling honey to be traceable from store to hive.
Oracle's patent portfolio in the Cryptocurrency sector reveals that the tech giant had a slow entry into the blockchain industry. Nevertheless, it has several pending patent applications applicable to this new initiative, including one for digital asset traceability and another for managing a blockchain cloud service.
