The Pokémon Company, which is owned in part by Nintendo, announced this week that they are developing Pokémon Sleep, a mobile app using sleep-tracking data. The sleep-tracking data may include how long a player slept and quality of sleep to modify gameplay. The mobile app will work in conjunction with a peripheral device, the Pokémon Go Plus Plus.
Nintendo's entry into the Consumer Sleep Technology Sector is supported by a large number of applications in this area. Nintendo began filing in the Consumer Sleep Technology Sector in 2016. The company currently has 9 publications, primarily in Data Processing and Analytics as well as Environment Control. Nintendo continues to show signs of working to have these applications issue into patents.
