MercadoLibre, a Latin American e-commerce giant, announced that it will ban cryptocurrency-based listings, pre-paid gift cards, and digital assets used in games from its platform on 3/19/2019. MercadoLibre's stock recently saw a rapid jump in value after PayPal invested $750 million, leading many to speculate that PayPal is trying to fight back against the modern ubiquity of cryptocurrency.
