Fox Sports, which had entered the golf arena through the 2015 U.S. Open, implemented a host of new technologies to support its fifth year of covering what is one of the most widely viewed golf tournaments in the world. While Fox Sports has patents of its own in the Sports Analytics sector, it featured Trackman technology to collect, analyze, and present swing data and shot tracing. Two days before the 2019 U.S. Open, in fact, Trackman was issued a patent directed to illustrating the flight of golf balls.
