It uses world-record efficiency single junction gallium-arsenide solar cells and meets the unique requirements of high-altitude operating conditions: lightweight, able to withstand intense UV radiation, aerodynamic, flexible, and durable. Alta Devices has a diverse patent portfolio in the Thin Film Photovoltaics sector that supports the company in the growing market of solar-powered UAVs. It includes patent applications directed to flexible solar cells with easy integration and PV cell configurations that reduce stress, as well as an issued patent claiming an ELO system. Alta Devices was founded in 2008 as a subsidiary of Hanergy.
