It is getting busy for Iteris, Inc., a Santa Ana, CA smart mobility company, with five recent contracts: one each in Orange County (CA), SF Bay, and City of Moreno Valley and two with Florida DOT.
Iteris provides software, sensors, data analysis and consulting services for monitoring, visualizing and optimizing mobility infrastructure. Its patent portfolio reflects the broadness of its offering and the Magic Number® Patent Radian® shows more patents than publications. This pat/pub inversion means Iteris is fast-tracking patent applications, which is a program at the USPTO that permits applications to "jump the line" for a fee. Fast-tracking patent applications is a quick way to build an investment-worthy portfolio, so maybe Iteris is beefing up their patents to prepare for an investment round. They don't appear to have taken any investment recently and business is growing rapidly, so they may need some working capital.
