Panasonic has been assigning patents to Sun Patent Trust, an intellectual property licensing trust, since 2016, shortly after the Trust's inception. This includes all of Panasonic’s patents in the energy financial settlements space, and over 780 total from the company. The Trust appears to be pursuing multi-national licensing, as its website states that its patent portfolio includes protection in North America, Europe and Asia. The Trust has also been listed as the applicant on over 450 patents since its inception, according to the USPTO.
