Google reported on 2/26/2019 that it successfully utilized machine learning to boost the value of its wind farm energy by roughly 20 percent. Having partnered with DeepMind, an AI company also owned by Alphabet, Google trained a neural network on widely available weather forecasts and historical turbine data, which then recommended how to make optimal hourly delivery commitments to the power grid a full day in advance. Patent data further show Google's commitment to innovating in the energy market.
