A patent (US Pat. No. 10,611,713) for an automated production line for extracting CBD from industrial hemp was just issued this week to an independent inventor. Automation in cannabis has gained footing recently in the IP world as projected global demand for cannabis products continues to rise over the next several years.
Notably, the disclosed production line CBD extraction process uses a chromatography column to filter out the CBD from a hemp extract solution which is then sent to a crystallization device to create a CBD crystal extract. Extracting CBD using this biochemical technique allows for extremely pure extracts to be created.
