Water Soluble, Biodegradable Beverage Container

A biodegradable and dissolvable container may include a biodegradable and water soluble shell defining the container sized to accommodate a volume of a liquid, the shell having walls extending upward from a closed bottom; an exterior water insoluble layer coating an exterior surface of the walls of the shell; and an inner water insoluble layer coating an interior of the shell, wherein the container may completely dissolve in water over a predetermined period of time.

2 Independent Claims

  • 1. A biodegradable and dissolvable container comprising: a biodegradable and water soluble shell defining the container sized to accommodate a volume of a liquid, the shell comprising walls extending upward from a closed bottom; an exterior water insoluble layer coating an exterior surface of the walls of the shell, wherein one or more portions of the exterior surface including at least the closed bottom are uncoated to promote the dissolution of the container in a dissolving liquid beginning with the one or more portions; and an inner water insoluble layer coating an interior of the shell.

  • 15. A biodegradable container comprising: a biodegradable shell defining the biodegradable container sized to accommodate a volume of a liquid, the biodegradable shell comprising walls extending upward from a closed bottom; an exterior water insoluble layer coating an exterior surface of the walls of the biodegradable shell, wherein one or more portions of the exterior surface including at least the closed bottom are uncoated to promote the dissolution of the dissolvable container, wherein the one or more portions dissolves first in a dissolving liquid to promote the container dissolving after utilization of the biodegradable container to accommodate the volume of liquid, and wherein the dissolving liquid enters at least between an interior layer and an exterior layer of the shell from a junction of the closed bottom to dissolve the shell; and an inner water insoluble layer coating an interior of the shell.
