In April of 2019, Salesforce acquired MapAnything, a location-based intelligence company that provides software to optimize route planning and asset management. Founded in 2009 and having raised $84 million in funding, MapAnything stood out from other logistics company by providing location data more logically on a map rather than in a traditional table format. On June 6, 2019, the only patent application by MapAnything in the Shipping Digital Asset Management sector was published. This patent suggests a desire to use MapAnything's existing platform to create a “freight shipment booking system”. This system would match freight load requirements with freight capacities in realtime by incorporation of data from one or more transportation management systems. A “freight shipment booking system” is just one example of how MapAnything’s platform can be utilized to create a number of products for its new parent company, Salesforce.
