Tech and shipping giant Amazon has an application pending related to the use of blockchain to track inventory through a shipping network. Such a move is natural for a company which already boasts their own blockchain management service: Amazon Managed Blockchain. This service is currently used for smart contracts, inventory management, and for verification of the origin of goods in retail and shipping applications; however, Amazon has little in the way of freight-level Shipping Digital Asset Management. This most recent application, published in January of 2019, indicates the beginning of a movement into the blockchain technology for this space.
