Smart Trampolining

Sports Analytics Patent Forecast®

September 3, 2020

If you ever had the chance to jump on a trampoline growing up, like most kids you probably had the debate between you and your friend, sibling, or cousin about who could jump the highest. Well, this debate may have more of a scientific end then you may have believed thanks to a recent patent application published by a long-time player in the sports analytics sector.

Hosting a variety of timing and scoring solutions for sports from basketball to bobsleigh, Swiss Timing's patent portfolio, with 28 documents in the sector, has aided them in becoming one of the top timing companies on the globe with achievements such as being the exclusive timer of the 2018 Olympics and many more before that. Their most recent patent filing shows that they are not satisfied with their current selection of sports solutions.

US Patent Pub. No. 20200271685 teaches a novel method of measuring the physical parameters used in the scoring of trampoline jumping. Their method allows for the measurement of the number of jumps, displacement of the athlete, and the time of flight automatically using a network of sensors placed on different parts of the trampoline. With this possible recent addition to what is already a very broad list of sports solutions, it is safe to say that Swiss Timing is leaving no sport behind when it comes to precise and automated timing and scoring.
