State Farm is representative of a large group of insurance companies that combine to become the largest auto insurance provider in the US. While it may seem odd to see an insurance provider involved in traffic control, most of it patents are directed specifically to insurance-related applications such as identifying high-risk parking lots or detecting accidents in autonomous vehicles. However, State Farm does appear to be the only insurance provider active in the space, setting it up to be well ahead of competitors in the future.
