The Battelle Memorial Institute, which is a subsidiary lab of the U.S. Department of Energy is a private nonprofit research lab headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. Battelle has a rich history of R&D within the oil and gas industry, but also focuses much of its work with renewable energy, and smart grid research.
