tZERO is a subsidiary of Overstock.com that develops blockchain based fintech solutions. tZERO Group was founded in 2014 and is currently based in New York, New York. They have moved somewhat slowly in the space, only filing 7 patent applications since their founding, but they have had one issued and have filed a patent application as a continuation of that issued patent. Most of their focus so far has been specifically on the equity securities sector. Their most recent funding came from GoldenSand Capital that invested $5 million in April of 2020.
tZERO operates under the umbrella of Medici Ventures, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Overstock.com, that oversees all of their projects related to cryptocurrency and blockchain. Medici Ventures has 16 other subsidiaries under their umbrella with the most notable being Symbiont, an enterprise blockchain solution company that has received investments from Citigroup and NASDAQ, as well as partnering with Templum Markets to provide infrastructure for Templum's private securities market.
