Siemens has been making acquisitions in the smart home sector - purchasing several home IoT startups within the past few years. This came prior to their debut Smart Thermostat in 2019. More recently, Siemens has shifted course to focus some if its efforts in energy storage and has been reorganizing its business to better tackle challenges in energy.
