Huawei recently held its Global Analyst Summit, where it highlighted the importance of intelligent networks for accelerating connectivity and also revealed its intentions for the rest of 2020. The company plans to invest $200 million in the global computing ecosystem and also will support 2 million developers worldwide.
Kevin Hu, president of Huawei's data communication product line, noted that "Huawei will keep proactively increasing investment in super capacity, intelligent experience, and autonomous driving to build end-to-end intelligent IP networks for customers," much of which relies on edge computing.
While a significant player in the global computing market already, Huawei has limited published IP in the United States regarding edge computing. To grow and compete on a global level, it is possible that some of the company's innovation budget could be directed to IP development.
