Microsoft is the creator of the Xbox series of game consoles, as well as the Windows operating system. Microsoft also owned Mixer, an online game streaming service and competitor to Twitch.tv, until it was shut down in July 2020. Instead, Microsoft unveiled the MSN Esports Hub in October 2020, and bought the tournament platform Smash.gg with intent to integrate it with its platform in December 2020.
