2 Independent Claims

  • 1. An apparatus comprising: one or more sampling modules configured to receive one or more exhaled breaths and acquire therefrom a breath sample; a processing unit operatively coupled to the one or more sampling modules and configured to execute a first substance detection routine for detecting a level of alcohol in the breath sample and a second substance detection routine for detecting a level of one or more cannabinoids in the breath sample; and an output unit operatively coupled to the processing unit and configured to output one or more signals based on the level of alcohol detected in the breath sample by the first substance detection routine and the level of the one or more cannabinoids detected in the breath sample by the second substance detection routine.

  • 11. A method comprising: receiving one or more exhaled breaths in one or more sampling modules to acquire therefrom a breath sample; executing a first substance detection routine for detecting a level of alcohol in the breath sample; executing a second substance detection routine for detecting a level of one or more cannabinoids in the breath sample; and outputting one or more signals based on the level of alcohol detected in the breath sample by the first substance detection routine and the level of the one or more cannabinoids detected in the breath sample by the second substance detection routine.
