The state of Washington has yet to legalize psychedelics like psilocybin; however, Washington-based psychedelics medication developer CaaMTech, LLC is betting on near-future legalization of the drug. CaaMTech received its first patent for a psilocybin and cannabinoid composition which can be used for the treatment of psychological or mood disorders. Cannabis has been legalized recreationally and medicinally in Washington since December of 2012 as it was the first state to recreationally legalize. A bill was introduced in Washington in February 2021 to decriminalize all drugs in small quantities.
CaaMTech is among one other company, Procare Beheer, that has requested patent protection for a psilocybin:cannabinoid containing composition. These patents certainly could come to use in Oregon where cannabis and psilocybin are both legalized for use. Whether or not they will has yet to be seen.
