The Yokohama Rubber Company is a tire company based in Tokyo, Japan. The company was founded in 1917 and expanded its business into the united states in 1969. At a presentation in 2019, Yokohama Rubber announced that it would be ramping up its development of tire sensors alongside Alps Alpine Co., with particular focus on tire wear sensors. Yokohama Rubber is a long time participant in the space, having announced its Intelligent Tire Pressure Monitoring System for gauging road conditions back in 2005.
