You had a stroke. Now what?

AI Biotech/Diagnostics: Other Innovation Patent Forecast®

January 9, 2020

Stroke is a leading cause of long-term disability including paralysis of arms and legs, which can lead to substantial losses both financially and socially.  Some consider the current rehabilitation practices to be sub-optimal, instead arguing for patient-specific, individualized rehabilitation aided by the monitoring of movement.

One of those groups is Neuroanalytics, an Australian company dedicated to assisting stroke patients in motor function improvement. The company seeks to monitor and improve with real-time measurements of a patent's physiology  and immediate interventions to prevent deterioration and improve recovery. The company recently was granted their first two patents, which relate to monitoring motor recovery and identification of neuro-cardiological disturbances.

Integrating artificial intelligence to neurological diagnostics, Neuroanalytics is developing multiple products it hopes to sell soon. These include Stroke Watch, a wearable focused on individuals at risk of a stroke or who have suffered one, and a Smart Rehabilitation Watch. In the future, the company also plans to design wearables for individuals with epilepsy and dementia, among other things.
