Neuromodulation Therapy Monitoring And Continuous Therapy Reprogramming

Methods and systems are provided for updating neuromodulation-therapy algorithms. Sensor data may be received from a subject monitoring device that includes one or more sensors. A state of the subject within a directed-cyclic state diagram may be retrieved along with a current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm that corresponds to the state. Based on the sensor data and the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm, a new state of the subject may be determined, the new state including an update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm for the subject. In response to determining the new state, a wireless transmission that includes an identification of the new state and the update neuromodulation-therapy algorithm may be initiated to the implant device associated with the subject.

3 Independent Claims

  • 1. A method of updating of neuromodulation-therapy algorithms based on subject monitoring data, comprising: receiving sensor data from a subject monitoring device comprising one or more sensors, the sensor data comprising one or more identifiers associated with a subject; retrieving, based on the one or more identifiers, a state of the subject, the state being one of a plurality of states of a directed-cyclic state diagram that identifies a current state of the subject, the current state being one of a plurality of states of a directed-cyclic state diagram, the current state including a current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm executing on an implant device associated with the subject; determining, based on the sensor data received from the subject monitoring device, and based on the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm associated with the subject, a new state of the subject, the new state being a state of the plurality of states of the directed-cyclic state diagram, the new state including an update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm for the subject; and initiating a wireless transmission to the implant device associated with the subject that includes data identifying the new state of the subject and at least part of the update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm.

  • 8. A system comprising: one or more data processors; and a non-transitory computer readable storage medium containing instructions which, when executed by the one or more data processors, cause the one or more data processors to perform operations including. receiving sensor data from a subject monitoring device comprising one or more sensors, the sensor data comprising one or more identifiers associated with a subject; retrieving, based on the one or more identifiers, a state of the subject, the state being one of a plurality of states of a directed-cyclic state diagram that identifies a current state of the subject, the current state being one of a plurality of states of a directed-cyclic state diagram, the current state including a current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm executing on an implant device associated with the subject; determining, based on the sensor data received from the subject monitoring device, and based on the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm associated with the subject, a new state of the subject, the new state being a state of the plurality of states of the directed-cyclic state diagram, the new state including an update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm for the subject; and initiating a wireless transmission to the implant device associated with the subject that includes data identifying the new state of the subject and at least part of the update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm.

  • 15. A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium containing instructions which, when executed by the one or more data processors, cause the one or more data processors to perform operations including. receiving sensor data from a subject monitoring device comprising one or more sensors, the sensor data comprising one or more identifiers associated with a subject; retrieving, based on the one or more identifiers, a state of the subject, the state being one of a plurality of states of a directed-cyclic state diagram that identifies a current state of the subject, the current state being one of a plurality of states of a directed-cyclic state diagram, the current state including a current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm executing on an implant device associated with the subject; determining, based on the sensor data received from the subject monitoring device, and based on the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm associated with the subject, a new state of the subject, the new state being a state of the plurality of states of the directed-cyclic state diagram, the new state including an update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm for the subject; and initiating a wireless transmission to the implant device associated with the subject that includes data identifying the new state of the subject and at least part of the update to the current neuromodulation-therapy algorithm.
