In 2020, US cannabis sales grew by 46% reaching a total of $17.5 billion, according to Colorado-based cannabis research firm BDSA. Inmar Clearing, Inc. of North Carolina DBA Carolina Services wants to target cannabis promotions to people who are making a purchase in cannabis facilities. Using purchase information and geolocation tracking, a cannabis promotional offer may be sent to a cannabis purchaser once the payment card information has been processed. The promotional offer is sent to a mobile device application, or by text messaging or email as well. Carolina Services is well-equipped to handle this task as they are a subsidiary of Inmar Intelligence who has been in this field of work since 1980.
Carolina Services was awarded definitive contract HDEC0518C0002 on December 21, 2017 which is a firm fixed price federal contract award used to provide the Defence Commissary Agency (DOD) a coupon clearinghouse for its worldwide endeavors. In addition, Carolina Services handles the reimbursements for payments received from the Manufacturers for postage and special shipping and handling fees invoiced by Carolina Services.
Inmar Clearing received its first and currently only patent to provide cannabis promotions to cannabis purchasers on April 20, 2021. It is not yet clear if they have been contracted to provide these services for retail cannabis providers just yet but it could be something to look forward to in the near future.
