The Edge Processing Space has been dominated by large corporate partnerships, and this week another was announced that is no different. Amazon and Verizon will offer edge computing with AWS Wavelength. 

The companies plan to place small data centers, which operate on AWS software, near Verizon's 5G points of presence. Theoretically, this will allow applications running in the 5G area to utilize these data centers for their processing, and drastically decrease latency. While Verizon has been active in 5G, they have not been very active in the edge processing IP space, and this signals that they could continue to rely on partnerships moving forward.
