Siemens is set to unveil its Grid Diagnostic Suite during the European Utility Week. It enables smart grid and electricity grid operators to quickly access information from devices connected anywhere in the smart grid. By employing both cloud-based and Internet of Things (IoT) applications, vulnerabilities are easier to identify and remedy.
One such application is Siemen's cloud-based Sicam Localizer for distribution grids using overhead lines. The status of individual grid segments can be displayed in a clear format, indicating operating values including phase currents. This enables operators to quickly and efficiently respond to power outage events, or prevent them entirely.
Siemens is the holder of 25 patents and patent applications within the Energy Financial Settlement sector, with the majority falling within the "Energy Transaction" sub-category.
