In the late 2000s, Skybitz Inc. was filing a large number of patents regarding asset management, but that tapered off in the early part of this decade. In that time, filings related to tracking continued, but only recently do we see that Skybitz has renewed their interest in asset management, as they filed an application for satellite aided tracking and asset utilization in October of 2018. The company has over 70 published patent documents, including 12 in the digital asset management space, and is now focused on real time tracking. Last year, shipping giant Schneider chose Skybitz for the asset tracking needs of their entire fleet. This allows drivers to easily find empty trailers and containers using just their mobile devices.
